3D Printing with Anteroposterior Cannulated Screws for Posterolateral Tibial Plateau Fractures .
3D printing combined with anteroposterior cannulated screws for the treatment of posterolateral tibial plateau fracture.
BMC Musculoskelet Disord . 2023 Oct 6;24(1):796.A total of sixty-one patients with posterolateral tibial plateau fractures (PTPF) were randomized to receive either conventional surgery (n=30) or surgery using personalised 3D printing technology (n=31). The primary outcome of interest was operative time. Secondary outcomes included intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative fluoroscopy shots, radiographic outcomes, functional outcomes, and fracture complications, assessed 12 months postoperatively. Overall, the study results revealed that applying 3D printing technology in combination with anteroposterior cannulated screws is a feasible option in the treatment of PTPF, because it experienced significantly shorter operation time (p=0.020), significantly less intraoperative blood loss (p=0.010) and lower number of intraoperative fluoroscopy shots (p<0.001) than conventional surgery.
