Cross-linked formulation of hyaluronic acid provides long term pain relief
A multicenter, randomized controlled trial comparing a single intra-articular injection of Gel-200, a new cross-linked formulation of hyaluronic acid, to phosphate buffered saline for treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee
Osteoarthritis Cartilage. 2012 May;20(5):350-6. Epub 2012 Feb 1379 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee who had joint aspiration were randomized to receive a single injection of Gel-200 (new cross-linked hyaluronic acid product) or phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution. Results from 13 week follow-up revealed that patients who received Gel-200 had significantly better pain scores and functions. Additionally, the two groups did not significantly differ in regards to adverse events.
