Effects of Geriatric Team Rehabilitation After Hip Fracture: Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

7 studies were included in this meta-analysis, which sought to investigate the effectiveness of a comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) vs. a conventional post-operative rehabilitation program in elderly patients with hip fractures. Pooled results from the meta-analysis revealed significantly better outcomes in mobility and the ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL; eating, getting dressed, etc.) among CGA groups compared to conventional rehabilitation groups. There were no significant differences between the CGA and conventional rehabilitation groups with regards to the probability of remaining in one's own home and patient survival.
