Early telehealth efforts focused on improving access for remote communities, yet the pandemic pushed adoption forward at unprecedented speed. Usage has surged across health systems, and new platforms have quickly emerged to support demand. Even so, many clinicians remain cautious, noting that virtual encounters cannot fully replace hands-on assessment—especially in surgical fields. Still, patients often value the convenience, reduced travel, and comfort of home-based care. Moving forward, the challenge lies in refining virtual practices, strengthening communication, and ensuring safe, thoughtful integration of telehealth into routine care.
