Interest in medical cannabis for pain after orthopaedic surgery is rising alongside changing views on opioids and evolving legislation. Clinic patients reported moderate pain and frequent prior exposure to cannabis, with many already using it for symptom control. Users indicated that cannabis represented a substantial share of their pain regimen, while non-users believed it could replace a large portion of medications, including opioids. Most preferred non-smoked formulations such as pills or edibles, yet few had discussed cannabis with a clinician. Overall, patients expressed strong support for legalization, therapeutic use, and continued research, highlighting clear opportunities for improved education and communication.
