Xenix receives FDA clearance for NanoACTIV surface on posterior spinal fixation system .
Xenix Medical has received FDA 510(k) clearance to incorporate its NanoACTIV surface technology onto the screw shanks of its Riva modular pedicle screw system. The micro- and nanoscale surface modification is designed to promote osteogenic cellular responses and has already been incorporated across other Xenix spinal implants. The clearance expands the technology to machined wrought titanium, but claims regarding improved fusion or patient outcomes will require clinical evidence rather than surface-characterization data alone.
