Supervised PT Improves Persistent Knee Symptoms After ACLR .
What happens when young adults remain symptomatic long after ACLR? The SUPER-Knee trial studied 184 adults aged 18–40 with persistent knee problems 1–3 years after surgery. A 4-month physiotherapist-supervised exercise and education program improved knee symptoms and muscle strength compared with education alone, without evidence of cartilage deterioration or worsening early osteoarthritis. The findings support structured rehabilitation even after conventional postoperative recovery has ended and challenge concerns that exercise may accelerate joint damage.
