Early initiation of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) may reduce the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures in women, according to recent clinical findings. Women who began hormone therapy closer to the onset of menopause demonstrated lower fracture risk compared with those who initiated treatment later or did not receive therapy. Estrogen plays a key role in maintaining bone density by regulating bone remodeling and reducing bone resorption, and declining estrogen levels after menopause are strongly associated with accelerated bone loss. These results suggest that timely initiation of hormone therapy may help preserve bone strength and reduce fracture risk in appropriately selected patients.
