Silk fibroin–based wound dressings may offer a promising strategy to reduce postoperative wound complications following total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Emerging evidence suggests that this biomaterial, derived from silk protein, provides a breathable and biocompatible environment that supports wound healing while helping manage moisture and protect the surgical site. Patients treated with silk fibroin dressings experienced fewer wound-related issues compared with conventional dressings, suggesting potential benefits for infection prevention and recovery after joint replacement. These findings highlight the growing role of advanced biomaterials in postoperative care, with silk-derived dressings representing a novel approach to improving wound management and enhancing outcomes in arthroplasty surgery.
