Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques for transmalleolar tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) fusion may help reduce wound complications while maintaining effective deformity correction and joint stabilization. Clinical findings suggest that the MIS approach limits soft-tissue disruption compared with traditional open procedures, which may lower the risk of postoperative wound infection and promote improved healing. TTC fusion is commonly performed for severe hindfoot deformity, arthritis, or complex instability, particularly in high-risk patients with compromised soft tissues. By utilizing smaller incisions and less extensive exposure, the MIS technique aims to preserve surrounding tissues while still achieving stable fixation and fusion. These results highlight the growing role of minimally invasive approaches in complex foot and ankle reconstruction to improve surgical safety and recovery.
