An intensive lifestyle medicine program may significantly improve recovery after total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Findings indicate that patients who participated in a structured pre- and postoperative program focused on nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and behavioral health experienced lower infection rates and reduced postoperative pain compared with those receiving standard care. The intervention aims to optimize patients’ metabolic health and immune function prior to surgery, potentially enhancing wound healing and recovery. These results highlight the growing importance of perioperative patient optimization in arthroplasty care, suggesting that comprehensive lifestyle-based interventions may complement surgical advances and contribute to better clinical outcomes following joint replacement.
