Common sequelae include fatigue, dyspnea, cognitive impairment, and cardiovascular complications. New evidence highlights persistent brain changes and biomarker alterations. Surgery within 7 weeks of COVID-19 infection increases mortality, especially with ongoing symptoms. Updated ASA/APSF guidelines recommend individualized risk assessment and delaying surgery ≥7 weeks if symptoms persist.
