Key characteristics of effective yoga interventions for managing osteoarthritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Rheumatol Int. 2024 01-Sep;():. 10.1007/s00296-024-05652-y16 studies including 1402 patients with osteoarthritis were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the effectiveness of yoga interventions versus pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain and function. Pooled results demonstrated that yoga interventions significantly reduced pain and improved function. Most effective yoga interventions included supervised sessions supplemented with home-based practices. The study suggests that structured yoga programs may be beneficial for managing osteoarthritis symptoms, warranting further investigation in high-quality trials.
