Prospective Randomized Comparison of Knee Stability and Proprioception for Posterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction With Autograft, Hybrid Graft, and γ-Irradiated Allograft.
Arthroscopy. 2016 Dec;32(12):2548-2555. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2016.04.024. Epub 2016 Jun 7.90 patients undergoing posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction were included in this trial to compared knee stability and clinical outcomes between three different graft options. Patients were randomized to undergo the procedure with a semitendinosus and gracilis autograft, a g-irradiated tibialis anterior allograft, or a hybrid graft that combined both allo- and autografts. The participants were evaluated over a 5-year follow-up period for stability, proprioception, and clinical outcomes. Stability improved in all the groups from preoperative measures, but the autograft and hybrid graft groups demonstrated significantly better stability compared to the allograft group. There were no differences in proprioception and clinical outcomes between the three groups over the 5-year follow-up.
