OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2014;2(21):34 Osteoporos Int. 2011 Jan;22(1):317-25151 postmenopausal women were randomized to ascertain additive benefits of whole body vibration (WBV) alongside conventional multifunctional exercise/ training therapy. The study assessed bone mineral density (BMD), and risk of falls after 18 months and demonstrated that while WBV did not enhance the favorable outcomes of training on BMD, it did significantly reduce the risk of falls in participating patients. Further evidence regarding the vibration protocol and isolated effects of WBV on bone parameters is warranted to support this evidence.
