2014 World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases: A randomized controlled trial comparing hydrotherapy and conventional physiotherapy to patients with hip osteoarthritis (HOA)

30 patients with hip osteoarthritis were randomized to intervention through either hydrotherapy or conventional physiotherapy. The purpose was to determine how the treatments compared with respect to pain, function, and health-related quality of life. The results indicated that both groups significantly improved in pain within 2 weeks. Hydrotherapy was also noted to significantly improve in health-related quality of life, although the difference between groups was not significant.
