Comparative study of the influence of room-temperature and warmed fluid irrigation on body temperature in arthroscopic shoulder surgery

OE Journal. 2013;1(5):38 Arthroscopy. 2009 Jan;25(1):24-9. Epub 2008 Oct 1050 patients undergoing arthroscopic surgery were randomized to fluid irrigation using either a warmed or room temperature saline solution to assess the effect of irrigation solution on core body temperature. The results from this study indicated that patients in the warmed irrigation fluid group had a lesser incidence of hypothermia, while experiencing no effects in any other outcome measures.
