Short-term Efficacy of Ultrasonographic Guidance for Intra-articular Corticosteroid Injection in Hallux Rigidus: A Single-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial.

Fifty patients with hallux rigidus undergoing intra-articular corticosteroid injections were randomized to have their injection via landmark guided (n=25) or ultrasound-guided (n=25). The primary outcome was pain at 6 weeks as measured by a visual analogue pain scale (VAS). The secondary outcome of interest was function as measured by the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Score at 6 weeks postoperatively.
