Use of two fluoroscopes reduces radiation time in treatment of proximal femoral fractures .

Closed reduction and internal fixation for intertrochanteric femoral fractures is safer and more efficient using two fluoroscopes simultaneously
Injury. 2014 Jul;45(7):1071-5. doi: 10.1016/j.injury.2014.02.022. Epub 2014 Feb 23.27 patients with a stable intertrochanteric fracture scheduled to treatment with closed reduction and internal fixation were randomized to fluoroscopy during surgery with one or two fluoroscopes. This study aimed to compare radiation and operation times. Results indicated that both radiation time and operation time were significantly shorter when surgery was performed using two fluoroscopes versus one fluoroscope. Positioning of the second fluoroscope took an additional 2 minutes.
