The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure's semi-structured interview: its applicability to lumbar spinal fusion patients. A prospective randomized clinical study

87 patients suffering from degenerative disc disease, managed with lumbar spinal fusion, were randomized to rehabilitation treatment using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) semi-structured interview to structure therapy or standard therapy. The use of the COPM led to an increased identification of activities of daily living (ADL) problems, rehabilitation goals, and action plans. However, these improvements in identification and goal setting did not lead to any clinical improvements at any time point.
