Ultrasound-Guided Triamcinolone Acetonide Hydrodissection for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Sixty-four patients with carpal tunnel syndrome were randomized to receive a single ultrasound-guided corticosteroid hydrodissection (n=32) or a corticosteroid perineural injection (n=32). The primary outcome measure was the symptom severity subscale on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ). Secondary outcomes of interest included the functional status subscale of BCTQ, distal motor latency, and sensory nerve conduction velocity of the median nerve. Follow up was performed at 6 and 12 weeks post-injection. No significant differences in all outcomes were observed between the two groups, at all time-points.
