Triple injection peri-sartorius (TIPS) block for postoperative analgesia after total knee arthroplasty: Randomised controlled study.

Eighty patients with unilateral total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive either a triple injection peri-sartorius (TIPS) block (n=40) or a femoral nerve block (FNB) (n=40). The primary outcome of interest was the postoperative visual analog scale (VAS) score. Secondary outcomes included postoperative morphine consumption, 24-hour postoperative ambulation distances, and degrees of active knee extension. Outcomes were assessed at multiple intervals up to 24 hours postoperatively. Overall, the results of the study revealed that the TIPS block provided lower dynamic VAS scores, reduced morphine consumption, and greater ambulation distances and knee extension compared to the FNB group. The findings suggest that the TIPS block offers superior analgesia and motor preservation after TKA.
