The comparison of the efficacy of intramuscular tetracosactide and subacromial triamcinolone injection in rotator cuff tendinitis: a randomized trial.

Eighty-six patients with chronic RCT were randomized to receive subacromial triamcinolone acetonide 40 mg (n=43) or IM tetracosactide 1 mg (n=43). The primary outcome was change in pain (VAS) at 4 weeks; secondary outcomes included Constant–Murley (CM) functional score and categorical VAS severity. Outcomes were assessed at baseline and 4 weeks. Overall, the results showed larger pain reduction with triamcinolone than tetracosactide, and a greater CM improvement with triamcinolone. In short, both treatments helped, but subacromial triamcinolone was more effective for 4-week pain relief and functional gain.
