A prospective randomized controlled trial of injection of dexamethasone versus triamcinolone for idiopathic trigger finger

OE Journal. 2013;1(2):100 J Hand Surg Am. 2008 Apr;33(4):516-22; discussion 523-4.84 patients (>18 years) with idiopathic trigger finger were randomized to receive either dexamethasone or triamcinolone injection, to determine which treatment was better in resolving triggering symptoms. Although no statistically significant differences between the 2 treatments were seen at 3 months after injection, a trend was noticed suggesting that triamcinolone had a rapid but short lasting effect on idiopathic trigger finger compared to dexamethasone injection.
