Articular-sided rotator cuff tears: which is the best repair? A three-year prospective randomised controlled trial
Int Orthop. 2013 Aug;37(8):1487-93.60 patients with partial thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs) were randomized in two groups to determine the superior treatment between trans-tendon repair and conversion to full thickness followed by traditional repair (subacrominal). Patients were assessed over a 3 year period using ROM, clinical findings, MRI features, return to sport and level of activity and finally Constant-Murley and ASES scores. The study demonstrated that both treatments are comparably safe and effective measures in the treatment of PTRCTs.
