This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
Topical tranexamic acid in total knee replacement: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Knee. 2013 Oct;20(5):300-97 studies were analyzed in this meta-analysis, (2 high quality randomized control trials (RCT), 3 lower quality RCTs (quasi-randomized/level of evidence 2), and one prospective case control), to determine the efficacy of topical tranexamic acid (TA) on blood loss following total knee arthroplasty. The pooled data of these trials revealed total drain output, total blood loss, and risk of transfusion were all reduced with topical tranexamic acid without increasing the risk of thromboembolic events. A subgroup analysis indicated that higher doses significantly reduced transfusion requirements.
