Is tranexamic acid effective and safe in spinal surgery? A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Eur Spine J. 2013 Sep;22(9):1950-7Six randomized control trials were included in this meta-analysis to evaluate the efficiency of intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA) in reducing blood loss during spinal surgery. The results of this meta-analysis suggested that TXA successfully reduced the amount of blood lost preoperatively and the incidence of patients requiring transfusions. It should be noted that the number of studies was small and that two quasi-randomized trials were included.
