The Efficacy of Tranexamic Acid in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

14 studies including 1328 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing tranexamic acid (TXA) with control treatment. Pooled outcomes included postoperative drain output, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain scores, range of motion, Lysholm scores, and hemoglobin levels. TXA reduced drain output and improved pain through 4 weeks and range of motion at 2 weeks, while Lysholm scores, hemoglobin levels, and later pain and motion outcomes were comparable. Overall, TXA may improve early postoperative recovery after ACLR, although its benefits appear to diminish over time.
