J Rheumatol. 2006 Sep;33(9):1841-4Four randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis comparing the efficacy of topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) therapy to placebo in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Pain scores were significantly lower with the use of topical NSAIDs compared to placebo at follow-up ranging from 4-12 weeks.
