A randomised trial comparing the efficacy and safety of topical ketoprofen in Transfersome® gel (IDEA-033) with oral ketoprofen and drug-free ultra-deformable Sequessome™ vesicles (TDT 064) for the treatment of muscle soreness following exercise
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2016;4(10):30 J Sports Sci. 2016 Jan;34(1):88-95.168 patients with calf muscle-soreness following exercise were randomized to one of four study groups for the purpose of investigating the clinical efficacy and safety outcomes for topical NSAID therapy using topical ketoprofen (100mg and 200mg) in Transfersome® gel when compared to either drug-free Sequessome™ vesicles in TDT 064 gel or oral ketoprofen. The results of this study indicated that patients treated with oral ketoprofen had higher pain scores and longer soreness-recovery times when compared to the drug-free Sequessome™ vesicles in TDT 064 gel. However, there were no significant differences between the oral ketoprofen group and the topical NSAID groups in pain scores or soreness-recovery times.
