Thoracic spinal thrust manipulation for shoulder impingement syndrome: A meta-analysis of pain relief and functional outcomes.

Eight studies including 410 patients with shoulder impingement syndrome were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing thoracic spinal thrust manipulation (TSTM) vs. sham or control interventions. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain, range of motion (ROM), and functional scores. The meta-analysis revealed no significant differences between TSTM and control groups in clinical outcomes. Overall, the findings suggest that TSTM alone does not offer meaningful clinical benefits and may need to be used alongside exercise therapy for optimal outcomes.
