A prospective randomized study of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: a comparison of patellar tendon and quadruple-strand semitendinosus/gracilis tendons fixed with bioabsorbable interference screws
Am J Sports Med. 2007 Mar;35(3):384-94. Epub 2007 Jan 1199 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery were randomized to either receive ACL reconstruction using a bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft or a quadruple semitendinosus and gracilis tendon autograft. This study aimed to compare the aforementioned techniques with respect to outcomes of function and stability. The results at the 2 year follow up period demonstrated similar improvements in functional outcome measures between both treatment groups.
