The preventive effect of the nordic hamstring exercise on hamstring injuries in amateur soccer players: a randomized controlled trial

648 amateur male Dutch soccer players were randomized to undergo regular training, either alone, or with an additional protocol involving a Nordic hamstring exercise (NHE). The purpose of the trial was to assess the effectiveness of the NHE in reducing the incidence of hamstring injuries in this population, as well as its effectiveness in reducing the severity of the injuries. Findings indicated that while severity of injuries remained similar, the NHE protocol resulted in a significantly lower risk of experiencing a hamstring injury.
