The mid-term effects of total hip arthroplasty on health-related quality of life .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
Total hip replacement: a systematic review and meta-analysis on mid-term quality of life
Osteoarthritis Cartilage. 2014 Mar;22(3):389-406. doi: 10.1016/j.joca.2013.12.006. Epub 2014 Jan 1.20 studies (1 level I; 7 level II; 11 level III; and 1 level IV) comparing health-related quality of life (HRQOL) from baseline to mid-term (between 3.6 to 7 years postoperatively) in patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) were included in this review. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine whether THA has an effect on mid-term HRQOL. Results indicated that THA significantly improved both disease-specific and generic HRQOL in the mid-term. The female sex, older age, and pain reported at other sites were found to be predictors of poor mid-term HRQOL.
