Postoperative malrotation of humeral shaft fracture after plating compared with intramedullary nailing
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery; 2011; 20: 947-95450 patients with humeral shaft fractures were randomized to undergo either antegrade intramedullary nailing (IMN) or open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). The results of this study indicated that patients who underwent IMN had significantly reduced functional and range of motion scores in comparison to patients who underwent ORIF. Additionally, it was found that patients in the IMN group had a greater degree of malrotation.
