The impact of Yoga on patients with knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
PLoS One . 2024 May 16;19(5):e0303641.Eight studies, including 756 patients with knee osteoarthritis, were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing yoga interventions to control groups. Pooled outcomes assessed included pain, stiffness, physical function, activities of daily living (ADL), and quality of life (QOL). Yoga was associated with significant improvements in pain, stiffness, and physical function. However, no significant effects were observed for ADL or QOL. These findings suggest yoga can effectively reduce pain and stiffness and improve physical function in knee osteoarthritis patients but may have limited impact on ADL and QOL.
