The Effectiveness Of Mulligan Mobilization With Movement On Outcomes Of Patients With Ankle Sprain .
The effectiveness of mulligan mobilization with movement (MWM) on outcomes of patients with ankle sprain: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
BMC Sports Sci Med Rehabil . 2025 Apr 29;17(1):105.Ten studies including 419 patients with ankle sprains were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing Mulligan mobilization with movement (MWM) vs. control interventions (e.g., sham mobilization, electrotherapy, Maitland mobilization). Pooled outcomes of interest included pain (VAS), range of motion (ROM), balance (SEBT and Y balance test), weight-bearing lunge test (WBLT), stiffness perception, pain pressure threshold, and peroneus longus latency time. The meta-analysis showed significant improvements in pain, ROM, SEBT, Y balance, and WBLT, with no significant changes in stiffness perception or pain pressure threshold. The findings suggest that MWM provides clinically meaningful improvements in mobility and balance outcomes, although evidence quality is generally low.
