Cemented All-Polyethylene Acetabular Implants Vs Other Forms of Acetabular Fixation

This meta-analysis included 6 randomized trials comparing the outcomes of cemented all-polyethylene acetabular components to other acetabular designs in terms of durability, function and adverse events after total hip arthroplasty (THA). 907 patients in total were identified from the 6 studies. Over various time periods (from less than 3 years to more than 10 years), there were no significant differences in outcomes between the two components. There was, however, a non-significant tendency toward failures in patients who received cemented all-polyethylene components compared to those who received uncemented components.
