Comparison of distal and proximal centralising devices in hip arthroplasty

Int Orthop. 2009 Aug;33(4):945-8. Epub 2008 Aug 19

30 patients undergoing hemiarthroplasties for femoral neck fractures were randomized to receive the femoral component with either a distal centralising device (DCD) or a proximal mid-shaft centralising device (PCD) to compare both devices post operatively. The radiographic results indicated similar effects on stem alignment and cement mantle thickness with both the distal and proximal centralising devices.
