Comparison of Skin Blood Flow Between Mini- and Standard-Incision Approaches During Total Hip Arthroplasty

OE Journal. 2013;1(3):15 J Arthroplasty. 2008 Oct;23(7):1045-9. Epub 2008 Mar 420 patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty were randomized to either a minimal-incision surgery (less than or equal to 8 cm) or surgery with a standard incision of 14 cm to assess difference in circulation and wound complication between these procedures. The results indicated that the minimally invasive surgery was associated with decreased skin blood flow and an increased number of wound complications; however, this finding was not significant.
