Conventional rehabilitation post-TKA achieves better knee flexion with higher resource utilization compared to application-based rehabilitation - a systematic review and meta-analysis.
J Orthop . 2023 Sep 3:44:77-85.Seven randomized controlled trials (1364 patients) comparing telerehabilitation against a conventional rehabilitation protocol in patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Knee Society Function Score (KSFS), active range of motion (ROM), quality of life on EuroQoL-5D (EQ-5D-5L), and the incidence of additional manipulation under anesthesia. KSFS scores and active range of motion at 12 months favored the conventional rehabilitation group over the telerehabilitation group. All other outcomes were similar between the two groups.
