Tape versus cast for non-operative treatment of primary patellar dislocation: a randomized controlled trial
Arch Orthop Trauma Surg. 2012 Aug;132(8):1199-203. doi: 10.1007/s00402-012-1521-8. Epub 2012 Apr 24.18 patients with primary patellar dislocation were randomized to receive tape bandage immobilization or cylinder cast immobilization after 1 week of dorsal splinting. The results of the study indicate that tape bandage immobilization causes better long term knee function (Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale) than cylinder cast immobilization.
