Preventive effects of tamsulosin for postoperative urinary retention after lower limb arthroplasty: A randomized controlled study.
Investig Clin Urol. 2021 Sep;62(5): 569-576.One hundred patients who underwent a primary total hip or knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive 3 days of oral tamsulosin (n=50) or no treatment (n=50). The primary outcome of interest was the incidence of post-operative urinary retention. Results revealed a significantly lower incidence of post-operative urinary retention in the tamsulosin group.
