Influence of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures by Surgical Versus Conservative Management in Adult Ankle Fractures: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Medicina (Kaunas) . 2023 Jun 15;59(6):1152.In this meta-analysis, eight randomized controlled trials were included which assessed surgical treatment against conservative management for patients with ankle fractures. Outcomes of interest included Olerud and Molander ankle fracture scores (OMAS), and 12-item Short-Form (SF-12) mental and physical scores. OMAS scores at 6 and 24 months favored the surgery group, whereas the scores were similar from 12-24 months. SF-physical scores favored the surgery group at 6 and 12 months. SF-mental scores were similar between the two groups at 6 months but favored the conservative treatment group at 12 months.
