Surgical versus non-surgical management for primary patellar dislocations: an up-to-date meta-analysis

OE Journal. 2015;3(6):46 Eur J Orthop Surg Traumatol. 2014 Dec;24(8):1513-2310 studies were included in this meta-analysis comparing operative and nonoperative treatment for primary patellar dislocation. Pooled results demonstrated a significantly lower incidence of recurrent dislocation following operative treatment, but no significant difference in clinical outcome between surgical and conservative treatment. The development of patellofemoral osteoarthritis was low after either treatment.
