Superior Mid- to Long-Term Clinical Outcomes of Mobile-Bearing Total Knee Arthroplasty Compared to Fixed-Bearing: A Meta-Analysis Based on a Minimum of 5 Years of Study
J Knee Surg. 2021 Oct;34(12): 1368-1378.17 randomized controlled trials including 3283 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty were identified in this meta-analysis comparing fixed-bearing and mobile-bearing implants. Pooled outcomes of interest included Knee Society Scores (KSS), range of motion, and implant survivorship, at a minimum 5 year follow-up. Results revealed significantly favourable pooled KSS scores and range of motion in the mobile-bearing group compared to the fixed-bearing group. Survivorship was not significantly different between groups.
