Subacromial impingement syndrome: effectiveness of pharmaceutical interventions-nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroid, or other injections: a systematic review

8 studies (5 randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and 3 systematic reviews) were evaluated to compare the efficacy of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroid injections, and other injections in the treatment of subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS). Results indicated that effectiveness in pain management was seen for oral ibuprofen in the short term. Promising outcomes were found for glyceryltrinitrate transdermal (GNT) patches for the short term, and for disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) injections in both short and long term.
