Dr. Mulroy discusses strengthening and optimal movements for shoulder pain

80 patients with spinal cord injuries, who are wheel chair bound and suffer from shoulder pain, were randomized to either an exercise therapy and optimization training group or an attention control group. The results of this study indicate that exercise intervention and optimization training produce reductions in shoulder pain, while also providing improvements in mental health and subjective quality of life. It should be noted that there was a significant attrition rate in both control and treatment groups.
