The Effect of Spinal Mobilization With Leg Movement in Patients With Lumbar Radiculopathy-A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial

60 patients with low back pain and lumbar radiculopathy were randomized to a 2-week physiotherapy program with or without the addition of spinal mobilization technique in sessions with physiotherapists. To be enrolled, patients had to have demonstrated a positive response to a trial application of spinal mobilization. Patients were assessed for outcome related to leg pain, back pain, disability and function after 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. Results demonstrated better results in the spinal mobilization group compared to the control group for all primary and secondary outcomes: visual analog scale (VAS) leg pain, VAS back pain, Oswestry Disability Index, and range of motion in straight leg hip flexion.
