Benefits of a Specific and Supervised Rehabilitation Program in Femoroacetabular Impingement Patients Undergoing Hip Arthroscopy: A Randomized Control Trial.

Ninety four patients undergoing hip arthroscopy for a diagnosis of FAI were randomized to receive a specific FAI rehabilitation program (n=47) or a general rehabilitation protocol (n=47). Outcomes of interest were changes in functional outcomes assessed by the modified Hip Harris Score (mHHS), pain, range of motion and incidence of positive provocative tests. The specific rehab group demonstrated significantly greater improvements in mHHS from baseline and significantly greater improvements in ROM compared to the control group. The experimental group demonstrated lower frequency of positive provocative tests at final follow-up. The specific rehab group also demonstrated greater reductions in pain scores at final follow-up.
